Laptop screen turns on but doesnt display anything. ..

I have a toshiba satellite c855d-s5232, i recently upgraded to windows 8 and everything worked fine for a couple weeks. A few days ago i went to use it and i noticed that even though i can hear it start up the screen would turn on but didnt display anything. I have hooked it up to an external monitor and it works just fine... anyone know what the problems can be?

check the screen cable both from the motherboard to the back of the LCD....

Hello
Try this;
Remove the battery
Unplug the cable
Press and hold the power button for 58 seconds
Replug the cable and start.
