Black screen after booting

Earlier today i tried to watch a dvd on my pc, when I tried to run it it didn't default to windows media player as I expected, instead it tried to install a media player off the dvd. So I closed this window, at which point theccomputer blackscreened and stop responding completely.

I then shut down the computer with the power button, from this point on the computer has been blackscreening and not responding after the windows screen. Safe mode is no different and repair does not work.

OS is windows 7 and the dvd was the first pirates of the Caribbean btw.

Any help with this would be much appreciated, thanks.
