Lan setting problems xp

Hello,
Can anyone help!!! trying to get onto the internet with a wireless router without success, I have spoken to tiscali our ISP who were not very helpful, router working ok, they say it is the lan settings which need to be configured which isn't their problem?. would be grateful for any advice. When I run through the Cd which came with the router it cant detect it although al the light are green
