Well, it is possible.
Does your laptop have a line in? The three most common inputs for audio are Line in (passive pass through, line signal strength of signal), Mic (powered and amplified), and Line out (or Speakers).
If you have a line in, you should be able to gt your sound from your tv into your laptop. I do this sort of thing with my KAOSSILATOR!
