Hi
This is getting to be a very sticky wicket!
Lets try one last thing before I recommend a dratic unpleasant solution.
Click on start and programmes
Go to tools and click on system restore
Choose restore system to a previous time, click on next.
On the left you will see bold dates, click on one which you know is prior to the lsass.exe error occurence.
Click on next. The system will be restored without data lost.
Good luck

May this be done in safe mode? It doesn't stay on long enough for me to complete action. I got all the way up to creating a restore point and before I could designate one, it shut down again. Yikes!!

Yes it can be done in safe mode. Some restore points are created automatically when Windows updates. You may have to go back a month or two.

Thank you. I believe it's the power supply as it shuts off at about the same time. I'm not sure if it's the cord or is internal. Thsnks again, I appreciate your patience.

It was.moved recently (one desk to another) and I saw that the cord had been pinched in a drawer
