Sata does not show on Bios windxp Sp3 clean reinstall

So I'm getting pretty frustrated here. I tried doing a clean reinstall of windows xp sp3 from a bootable USB drive with a ISO image do windows.

I managed to get out of some problems till now, i get the blue error screen on the second stage of the installation and can't go further from that. I found on another forum that when you get the blue screen you have to change your sata settings from the bios. The problem is SATA doesn't show on my bios to change it from AHCI to IDE.

Please, need your help really. Thank you!

As you found this solution is not an option on some laptops. In that case you can try loading the AHCI driver when Windows asks you to install RAID drivers. The trick is finding a suitable AHCI. The correct driver will depend on the laptops hardware.

Its a R52 1847 Ibm thinkpad, yes its old... suggestions?

That laptop is so old that it uses IDE (PATA) hard drives.

So your problem is not do to a missing AHCI setting.


You might need to replace the hard drive.
