Unable to format my pen drive

hello sir
i am unable to format my pen drive can you kindly aknowledge any other way to format it.
sir when i try to open the pen drive a dialog box is displayed showing a message please insert a disk in the drive.and as i try to format it system response windows is unable to format it.
thank you sir for my help.
