My laptop was overheating since last few months, so I decided to open it and clean the cooling fan. But after I cleaned it and assembled a continuously beep sound started coming after i pressed the power button, and also nothing was displayed on the screen.

Please help me resolve this issue.

Try reseating the memory modules. If you have multiple sticks in there, take one out and try.

if there is still a problem then the overheating could have damaged the motherboard.

I took my laptop (which is dell studio 1458) to laptop care center since i was not able to fix it. In the repair center they got it fixed in no time, when i asked them "what was the problem, how you fixed it" he hesitatingly replied that "there was some short circuit problem and i discharged your ram"; I didn't know exactly what he meant.

Can you please tell me how to discharge RAM?

You could try removing the charge lead and battery and holding the power button for 10 seconds. or removing the RAM from the motherboard and reinsert it.
