Laptop shuts down even when booting with live cd

Hi,
I have a lenovo ideapad that shuts down when booting up, doesnt complete the window load. using a live cd also shuts down when its loading. It however stays on while on bios setup. i have tried changing the ram but doesnt work. please help

I'm afraid that your hard disk has failed and needs to be replaced.

Sorry about that but that's the way the cookie crumbles.

Thanks for your suggestion Ambucias, however it a hard disk replacement has not worked for me. shuts down when booting

You mean you have just replaced the HD?

Yes, i have taken one from a working laptop, placed it in the lenovo but still the computer shuts down when windows setup disc is loading,

Then it's a motherboard issue for which only a qualified technician can see to.
