Sandisk cruzer blade 16gb only 304 Mb space available

I bought new sandisk cruzer blade 16gb pen drive from shop , downloaded some files from my Lapy , then inserted in my HD DVR to record some movies , it asked for format , I pressed ok ,then again formatted and , inserted in my Lapy ,now it says only 304 Mb space available , I formated many times but problem remains the same , I throly checked it I myself had transferred around 10 gb data and even checked ,KINDLY HELP
