Hello,
I recently got a computer that hasn't been used for a long time. when i got everything hooked up i turned it on and I here a sequence of beeps like this: bb-b-b-b. b=beep, - =pause. Also the monitor will not show anything. Sometimes I will be able to see the computer boot after a rare 1 beep but the monitor soon loses signal anyway. I've been able to get into windows 2 times and into safe mode 3 times before the screen lost signal.

I know it isnt my monitor cuz i tried other monitors too, all with the same result.

I have a feeling it may be my video card or power supply becuz when I do see the boot after the rare 1 beep, the screen is very distorted.

Hardware:
Graphics Card : e-geforce 7300 LE
Motherboard : Asus A8N-E and AMD athlon
2x 512 mb RAM
1 DVD Drive
1 CD Drive
1 Seagate barracuda Hardrive

Thanks,

o ya one more thing, ive tried rearranging the RAM cards and only having one in at a time. i've tried unplugging the cd and dvd drives and resitting the Video card. My power supply is 230 watts.

Does the beep sequence matches one of these?

What is the make and model of your computer or is it home built?

Okay, ASUS uses the Phoenix beep codes.

Beep Beep, (pause) beep (pause) beep and so on means:

This data bit on the first RAM IC has failed. Replace the IC if possible.

Good luck

Replaced the IC, Nothing has changed, but the beep sequence is less frequent and i am getting more proper starts even though the screen is still losing signal at some point when it does.

any help for the screen problem?
