I had this problem about 1 day ago.
I found out that the problem was because my hd realtec audio software was stopped, so when i found and started it up the sound worked.

Maybe you made it stop or you made it not to startup when the pc starts up.

If that does not help try the ffollowing:
Play a music.
While playing the music put your headphones (audio jack) in an out and see if you get any sound.

Also goto sound settings and see if your headphones show up, if not something wrong with your driver.

Open realtek hd audio manager.
And then plug in your headphones.

Reply back.

Are you sure that your headphones are working?
Try it in a phone or something.

Try these steps:

1. From the Start screen press the "Windows Key" + X. If you have a mouse, right click the bottom left side of the screen.
(If windows 7 find device manager in control panel)
2. Select "Device Manager" from the menu that appears.
3. Expand "Sound, video and game controllers".
4. Right Click the device listed here.
5. Click "Uninstall".
6. Restart the computer and check if the audio jack is working.
