my desktop was working fine until yesterday. suddenly when i was on internet, monitor got blank. mouse stopped working. then i pressed start button to turn the system off.
when i tried again to turn it on by pressing the start button , only fans are working non stop , no signal to the monitor, mouse /keyboard.
please advise.

sounds like hardware failure. Being an old XP machine it's probably not worth the money to fix it. You will probably need to spend $100 just to diagnose the PC.
