Hello,

My computer runs Windows XP 2002 and has one DVD-ROM and one DVD-RW drive. A week ago I replaced my DVD-RW drive with a new one. Both drives were tested and worked fine but a day later the operating system could not detect the DVD-RW drive or the DVD-ROM despite the system setup detecting both drives (Corrupt driver ERROR 39). The hard disk was full so a system restore did not work. I tried repairing the installation but before it begins installing devices it cannot find the DVD-drive so the installation fails. Installing a new copy of Windows XP worked though, but the administrators account is not accessible. I wonder whether it is possible to migrate the applications to the new installation as well as access the administrators account.

hi,
try to boot in safe mode and try to find it.
you may also try to install the driver again when in safe mode.
put the drive as slave and then check if it is detected.
