Cannot play dvd-r on computer

I recorded some movies from my dvd recorder/player. However, when I try to play them on my computer (I drive), nothing shows up, Its just not there. They play fine on the player. Is there some program I need to install or purchase?

One or both of the DVD drives are probably out of spec. Giving recorded DVDs that are not readable by the other machine. Can you test these recorded DVDs on a different PC?

There may not be anything you can do short of replacing one or both drives.
