you have 2 choices :
- use GParted Live CD to delete the linux partition and create a FAT32 partition on your USB key.
- use a Ubuntu Live CD (at the boot time, click on "Try Ubuntu"). Your USB key will be recognized and you may be able to change the file system of your USB key.
