Sorry - bad joke.
Do you mean the wallpaper (the picture in the background) or the icons you click on to access programs?
If the latter ...
try pressing at the same time the [Ctrl], [Shift], and [Esc] buttons. This will bring up (after a few seconds) the Windows Task Manager. Click on "File" on the top left and choose "New Task". In the box that appears type "explorer" (no quote marks) and then press [Enter]. Hopefully. your desktop will return.
