Shift keys and ctrl are not working on my hp elitebook

Hello,
Randomly my shift keys and ctrl keys are not working on my hp elitebook. I am not very familiar with the inner workings of sticky keys but I do not believe this is the issue. is there a way to set my keyboard back to default and just start over
