I have a toshiba satellite laptop and recently bought a Gioteck multiplatform headset with mic. it has a single cable and I'm plugging it into what should be a combined in out socket. the audio plays through the headset but the microphone ins't being picked up what so ever.

tried multiple solutions online but haven't gotten a fix for the problem
