Linked cells to excel

Hello,
I have a word document that has a section linked to a excel worksheet, all working ok (e.i. the values are updating correctly) but it dosent seem to update the conditional formatting. I have cells that change colour based on the value in the cell (1 =Red, 2=Orange and 3=Green)

Is this a limitation of word to do this?
