Hello,
hi sir/madam...i am doing some work with the students result in excel...but i faced a problem..it is simple but i havn't got that in my mind...i have students total marks.now i wanna get the 1st 2nd 3rd...so on position of student leads from highest to lower one & also indicate with position i.e 1st,2nd, 3rd, 4th & so on .also result show like 1st,2nd,3rd,5th,6th,7th,3rd,1st,8th,9th.

What do the students total marks look like?
What if students have the same total?

results marks 420,455,479,411,420,399,471,411,365,250. please tell me formula for position of each and also show result as 1st,2nd,3rd,4th,2nd,5th & so on.

Hi M.Sohail,

Since your marks are numbers you can sort them (the sort option can be found under the Start ribbon). After that place 1st,2nd,3rd,4th,2nd,5th & so on in an empty column.
