Preloaded Intervideo DVD8

Hello ,
I have a preloaded Intervideo DVD 8 player on my laptop HP 620 32 bit and I am not sure if my setting are incorrect .
I am experiencing playing DVD discs and also I have problems burning to disc . When inserting DVD+RW and DVD-R discs for burning I receive the error message " insert a recordable disc "
Please help !!!

perhaps the recording LED needs to be cleaned.
