XP not booting up

Hello,


My computer was left on all night and had a black screen this morning. I've tried booting but it just goes to a black screen. I've got a HP Pavilion. Upon booting I try pressing F11 for Recovery options but nothing happens. It does allow me to press F10 for Set up and F09 for diagnostics.

Any suggestions??

Then press F9 for diagnostics..
Or
Try to press F8 after the starting up of your laptop immediately until you got the Safe mode screen.

F9 does work. I ran the diagnostics and all is fine with the hardware. F8 doesn't seem to work either.

Could it be my operating system? Any other way of getting to the recovery option?

Did you have recovery cd?
