I have a Seagate external hard dirve and I am trying to organize my files, but when I drag them or change them from one folder to the other they get copied. how can I solve this problem and don't end up with duplicates of all my files? I'm working on a mac.

Hello,
Move or copy an item from a folder to the desktop
Select the file or folder you want to move to the desktop.
Begin dragging the item while pressing Command - Mission Control to hide all windows.
To move the item, release it on the desktop.
To copy the item, press the Option key before releasing the item on the desktop.
To make an alias for the item, press Command - Option before releasing the item.
If at first you don't succeed; call it version 1.0
