Problem with startup - blue screen

Hello,
When I start my computer it gives me a black screen, asking to start in safe mode and the alternatives. When I start in safe mode it goes back to the black screen and ask it over again. It doesn't matter which option I choose it goes back to the original screen. It does not go further than that. How can I fix it?
I am using windows xp professional

You can try booting from the XP CD and doing a "repair".
