Hello maryleeb,
The fact that your mp3 player doesn't show up on your PC and also the light is not blinking tells me that your USB drive might be defective. Try to connect it to another PC if you have that option but if it's still not recognized there I suggest you to make RMA to the merchant where you bought it from while still under guarantee.
