hello,

I was recently told that my hard drive in a HP Pavilion DV7 has bad sectors and needs to be replaced. I started the recovery manager, but it burns the firs disc and fails on verify disk (1%) I contacted HP and was told that I only had 30 after buying the laptop to create them. Need to buy from HP. Why do HP allow the RECOVERY MANAGER to run, burn(destroy) the disc and then fail. Surely they should prevent the program from running after 30 days and should have prompted me to create the discs within 30 days. If I bought a PC with Windows 7 CD I would have had a disc to reinstall at any time. Can someone please help before the drive fails.

Can you clone (copy) the drive and then update the new hard disk using a free Windows 10 upgrade DVD?

Most people never read the instructions that come with the computer.

Good Luck
