HELP!!!!!need help with shutdown issue

So my husband recieved a HP notebook in exchange for work on a vehicle. The mansaid he just bought it and never used it. We got itb2 days ago. No prohlem till today. Got a certificate error when trying to access gmail. Went online and did sum research and a website advised to run virus scan and try again. Did that and notebook shut down after scan said 0 viruses found
Then a box came up and read something like to install windows push o.k. when ok is clickedbit restarts and same box comes up. Does nothing now. Called HP and they wajt 59.99 for tech support. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP!!!!!!!!!!

Do you know how to remove your hard drive from your laptop?
If so then switch off your laptop and try to remove your hard disk and reseat it properly and then switch on your laptop.

Did you able to enter into BIOS of your HP notebook.
To do this press Del or F2 or F12 according to your system ( it varies to some laptop's).

In booting devices whether you see the Hard disk in first booting device?
when you buy it which os is installed in it?

OS is 8.1 and under legacy boot order, UEFI boot order. Or boot options?

Install windows box shows that the hard disk contain no windows in it.
