Hello,
I downloaded skype to use but upon installing it conflicts with my DSL modem.ie. the DSL modem turns on and off, disallowing internet connection.

hi,
uninstall it, if the problem persists, do a system restore.
this will fix the problem.
download and instal lthe correct version and check if it compatible.
