Lost USB stick with important GCSE file,is it posible to recover

Hi,
I recently have have lost my USB stick and it has all my important GCSE files on. my computer still shows the powerpoint file as a shortcut, but cannot open as it is not there. IS there any way i can recover my files from this shortcut? I'd be really appreciative if you could help.
