If your computer is running fine in Safe-Mode (which is a very good sign), then you most likely have software or registry problems during the normal booting process.
While your in safe-mode, I recommend 1) uninstalling any useless software, especially freeware, 2) deselect programs from startup (can be accessed by typing 'msconfig' on the search from Start menu), 3) clean out broken/damaged registry entries using programs like Tuneup Utilities, 4) finally, do a deep Error Scan which will search for damage sectors in your computer.
If 1 through 4 doesn't fix your problem, then I would recommend a fresh install of windows 7. Of course, backup your data first.
