Hello mawe,
Have you tried connecting the USB drive to different PCs to see if the folder will be visible there? Also, have you tried connecting it to different USB ports? If you are positive that the folder is not hidden or password-protected, you can try accessing it through a third-party data recovery software or through a Linux Live CD.
Hope I gave you some ideas.
