Connected to network but no Internet

I am connected to my router's network but am not able to access the Internet on my laptop, ipad, or phone. What do I need to do?

Connect a cord, does it then get the 'net/ What happens when you pull an ip address from the router? Is the light on? Is it green, or red? Have you called your provider yet and asked why you are paying for a service and not able to use it?

I can get Internet only on my laptop if I connect an ethernet to it from the modem. Obviously not wireless. All lights are green on modem and router. Router's network comes up unlocked, when you select it though nothing loads and it says not connected to Internet

What has your provider said? Is there one box or two?
