Screen won't turn on

Hello,
I have a Dell laptop inspirion 15 series 3000 and all of a sudden the screen is black but it's switched on I think because the cd holder opens I press and it opens. Anyone know how I can fix it or what can be wrong it's about a year or two old It's fully charged ect I use it every day and no problems
