I inserted my flash drive, selected open to view files and within seconds all my work disappeared.

I safely ejected and retried with the same problem.

What caused this?

Virus?
Thanks for responding,

however I'm not sure is you're asking if I found a virus. I did download Recuva which located most if not all my files unfortunately the most recent documents were corrupted and labeled with a Red Dot as unrecoverable.
I will have to redo the documents if I don't recover them by todaytill dont know if it is safe to re-se the flash drive in another P.C. or use a New flash drive in the P.C. where the documents disappeared.

I suggest you take the conservative action and scrap the flash drive.

Click on "Start" -->Run --> type cmd and click on OK.

Here I assume your pendrive as G:

Enter this command.

attrib -h -r -s /s /d g:\*.*

You can copy the above command --> Right-click in the Command Prompt and

paste it.

Note : Replace the letter g with your flash drive letter.

Now check for your files in Pen Drive.
Great! what may have caused it?
