Why does my monitor turn off?

Hello, I've been having problems with my computer/monitor. I do not want to take in to shop because that's too expensive, but hopefully someone here can help me. Okay so whenever i turn on my computer tower the loading screen pops up with the loading bar thing not on, just says acer and then my monitor turns gray and it just stays like that. All I can do is open the BIOS Setup utility. Please help! Thanks

Sounds like a computer failure not a monitor failure.

There is not much we can suggest when you have a problem like this.

You can try pressing F8 when you see the Windows logon. That will start the computer in "safe mode". If it starts then you have a problem with Windows software. Otherwise it's probably a hardware issue and nothing you yourself can fix.
