Hp pavillion slimline

Hello,
hi whilst doing a system restore on my hp pavillion i had a power cut now it will not boot up i just get message saying windows had to close to stop damage to computer. i have tryed to run the repair disc and its still the same also got a copy of vista from a friend and it still says the same error message also i tryed safe mode and boot from disc still no joy is there any way i can reformat the harddrive and reinstal vista or have i got to buy a new harddrive thanks for your time this is driving me nuts janice

You can try doing a system restore

hi hotspur thanks for the reply but the comp will not boot up so there is no way to acess system restore. ive tryed last knowen good configuration but i still get same error message windows had to close to stop damage to computer
