As you can see it's a VIA Chipset VIA PT880 + VT8237 with Socket 478 for CPU. The driver you refer to sounds like either the main chipset drivers for windows itself or the firmware to update the BIOS where they usually fix things like CPU support for faster models or fixes to onboard drivers for hard drives etc, or issues that can cause BSODs.
