Hello,
Using windows XP
DVD drive is a Philips DVD8801. Was working fine until a couple of days ago...is in the device manager but sometimes disappears....right now it's back (haha) don't know for how long!!!! When inserting dvd it says no disc in drive....do I need a driver? Device manager says it is working correctly (lol)

Please help I'm 50 miles from nowhere so I hate to drive it in and then find out it's a simple fix.

sadly if the drive is comming and going in device manager its fair to say its on its way out unless your OS needs a fresh reinstall.
