firstly run antivirus and spyware scans incase msn has been infected...best choices there are Avast Antivirus or AVG, Spybot Seek & Destroy, Anti-malwarebytes, and superantispyware.
If they all come back clean then reinstall MSN messenger, and of that is still acting up also make sure suitable rules are allowed in the firewall for it.
