Use search function to find old emails in your inbox applies equally well to the trash folder.
Simply click on the Trash folder to see your deleted messages, then click on the search bar at the top of the page and type in keywords you think your email may have contained.
Gmail will then list all the emails and messages containing those keywords; this speeds up the process of finding the email.
