Hi Hb,
Are you using an external hard drive? If so, I strongly recommend you to test it with another USB cable and on another PC. The noises from the hard drive are usually a bad sign and may indicate a mechanical issue. The beeping noise may be related with a power issue, which should be resolved with another cable. Let me know if there is any progress.
