Hello Andrew,
You have provided too little information regarding the issue that you have so I find difficulties in troubleshooting the case. Please, give me more details regarding the issue that you have and what happened. Are you talking about a desktop PC or a laptop? I am assuming it's a desktop computer, please make sure that the fans are spinning correctly and the hard drive too. Also, if you have a dedicated and integrated video cards, try connecting the monitor to each one of them.
If you have another monitor or you are able to find one, my suggestion is to try with it.
