Choose Application problem with Flashplayer

Hello,
I've been trying to install flash player 10 onto my Mac. When i click the "adobe flash player.pkg" it says there is no default application to run it on and that i need to choose an application. I don't know if i need something or if something is just messed up. Any help given would be greatly appreciated.

Actually a lot of people are getting this problem, no solution yet i guess!

any solutions??? this is killing me... i've even tried to reinstall flash player 9 and now I'm having the same problem opening 9 as I am with 10.

I will take any suggestions on how to regain control over my mac... THANKS! :)
