Win xp wont recognise game

Hello,
I have call of duty 4 and i used to be able to install it fine but now when i insert the dvd disk it just comes up blank when i open it and windows wont recognize any files on it , it used to work and ive instaslled it several times with the same dvd drive but now nothing , please help if anyone can.

I can think of only one possibility, the dvd is dead !!!

Yeah i dont know if thats it because every other cd i use works , well i hope its not that , ah well if it is that dvd's are cheap but still i dont want to have to buy another if i dont have to , its an LG supermulti something dvd drive , i was thinking it may be something to do with winxp itself , like it dosent recognise something , its a normal game disk and its worked before but something has obviously changed and i dunno what to do , i dont want to have to re-install winxp again just for this one cd problem , oh thanks .
