PC loads then goes black at user name page.

Hello,
I turn on my PC and the Windows XP logo appears as does the moving blue bar as normal. At which time it should flash and then go to the user name page it goes black and stays black with nothing but the cursor . I have booted and rebooted. Went thru all tests and they say PASS to all. What can I do?

Dear Sir,

This problem might be resulting from the VGA, please enable it in the VGA mode. You will have to press F8

while starting up and you will have to choose ATAPI CD ROM and then get to boot up in safe mode. You might

also confirm whether it is not a problem coming from your graphic card also. Hope the information provided has

I think I did as you said. I now have a black screen with 'safe mode' in all four corners. Still no user name page or anything. How do I check the card you spoke about? I really appreciate your help.
