Hello,

I am a school teacher that give "Marks" to students. The "marks" are leveled from 1 to 3. I have been inputting students into a spread sheet with the marks that they have. Column A: Name and Column B: 1,2, or 3.

The list in Column A: Has the names appear multiple times and Column B: has the corresponding number.

I want to have Column C to count how many 1's a student has. Column D to count how many how many 2's, and Column E to count how many 3's a student has.

I have tried a number of formulas but nothing seems to grab the two sets of data and pull them together.

thanks

Ek

Hi, you could use the autofilter feature to get unique values from column A to another column and use countif function. If you can share the Google Docs with me, I can help you. Thanks.
