Hello over there,
Since my desktop crashes, im unable to use my canoscan n650u on my laptop running 64bit win7.

Please some should help asap.

Try this 1

Make sure that drivers are installed for your CanoScan N650U in your laptop.

Click on the below hyperlink "CanoScan N650U" and follow the instructions

CanoScan N650U

Click on "Drivers & Software" and follow the onscreen instructions -->

Download the drivers.

dear jack,
you mean the win xp driver should already be installed on my laptop before proceeding?

Try this 1
Any device that you connect to your PC or Laptop is identified by its driver by the OS.
So you need to install the CanoScan N650U drivers in your laptop to get it detected.
According to "Cannon", the driver may be included in your OS. Perform "Microsoft Update".
If the problem still exists then you can try the Windows XP Driver.
If you failed to get the printer driver for Windows 7 then try installing the printer driver for Windows XP in compatiblity mode.
Click on the the above given hyperlink CanoScan N650U.
Make sure that "Drivers & Software" is selected --> Select Operating System as "Window" from the drop-down menu.
Select OS Version as "Windows XP" from the drop-down menu.
Click on "Drivers" and download it.
Click on the below link to install the driver in compatibility mode.

According to the "Canon", the driver for your printer is included in Windows 7. It should be able to detect and install the drivers for your. Click on the below hyperlink "Drivers" and follow the instructions given under "To check Windows Update for new drivers"

You can also try the above instructions using the Canon drivers for Windows XP..
