I have a desktop computer at my residence having Window 7 as OS, which oftenly using once a week. Last two days back, when I was working on Excel 2007and was on internet through USB (dongle) & left the pc as it is & went for some other work.
But when I came back, it was in Power save mode, so click to avtivate, which always work. But now instead of getting activated, it goes shutdown. So on re-starting, I got following message :
" Intel UNDI,PXE-2.1 (build 082) Copyright(C) 1997-2000 Intel Corporation For Realtek RTL8101E/8102E PCI-E Ethernet Controller v1.05 (071227) PXE-E61:Media test failure, check cable PXE-M0F: Exiting PXE ROM. Boot Failure. Press any key to continue".

I have already checked the hard disk. Hard disk is showing in healthy condition when checked in Disk Management. In Bios, Boot order is .. CD drive, Hard Disk , Floppy & USB.
I have anti-virus : Symantec & Microsoft security installed in the PC.

I have open the pc casebox & checked everything, but it could not work. When I checked Bios by pressing F2, HDD was not detected. I tried opening through CD (Win 7), which works but HDD was not showing. This process I repeated many times, but it was not working.

On next day i.e. yesterday, without doing anything my pc started working in the morning. But again yesterday same problem occurred in the evening, I was working on internet connected thru USB & suddenly it got hanged & went into shutdown mode. When I check today, it is again started working. So I am unable to find root cause for this problem. Can you please suggest, what could be reason of Hard disk not getting detected at particular moment.

Hello,

Try this 1

Make sure that the problem is not because of your bad data cable or power

connector.

Try changing your Data cable and also your power connector. Now go to CMOS

settings and make sure that your hard drive is detected. Set the first boot device

as hard drive in CMOS settings --> Save the settings and exit from it.

Good Luck

This problem still persist. When I work in evening for few minutes. PC suddenly get hangs & re-started. After that Hard disk is not detected. Next day in the morning, when I start Hard disk automatically gets detected without any problem.
What could be the reason for this problem ?
Whether there could be problem in SMPS or software getting corrupted ? But my concern is how it start working in normal condition on next day.

Hello,
Try this 1
First make sure that the molex power connector is able to provide the required output voltage.
Have you tried changing the data cable and the power connector?
Let me know your hard drive brand name.
Good Luck
