i dont think you can retrieve text messages from your simcard. but contacts can possibly be retrieved by the network support. so you need to go to the service center of the network of your sim card and ask for retrieval for your contacts. they will just trace your number.

for the contacts, you need to copy all your contacts from sim card to phone memory.
if you're using smartphone, you can save your contacts as one file to your micro sd card.
for the messages you can also transfer its location from sim card to phon memory.
